First Guitar Summit Encounter and Exchange

This high-class encounter between researchers, musicians, editors and scientists took place for the first time between March 23rd and 25th 2007 in Hemmenhofen on Bodensee.

Over 20 participants from 10 countries attended this event. Every participant was provided with 20 minutes lecturing time plus 10 minutes Q&A. This resulted in a highly compact series of contributions in which every speaker could explain his or her specializing area.

Lectures included many topics ranging from performance practice of Baroque tablatures up to problems of music notation on the Computer.

This event was accompanied by an exhibition of historical guitars including instruments from Pagés, Stauffer, Panormo, Müller, Gelas and many more.

The personal encounter of the international circle of attendants - which in some cases did have contact via the internet before - was a very important concern of this event. The motto "Encounter and Exchange" worked in an impressive way! Practical results and important realizations have been documented and will be made available for the public soon.

It is just common sense that this event should have a sequel in two years time. At the moment a mailing lists is being assorted which as a forum should include all research fields of Gitarristik. Also there will be a prize for younger researchers (maximum age: 35).
