Hermann Hauser I (* December 28, 1882 in Erding; † October 18, 1952 in Reisbach) was a guitar maker and guitarist from southern Germany.
Hermann Hauser I, son of Josef Hauser, occupies an outstanding position worldwide as a German guitar maker. He learned the profession of instrument maker in his father's workshop. Herrmann Hauser I took over his father's workshop, while Josef Hauser continued to run the music publishing company. Hermann Hauser I specialized in lute and guitar making, but also remained loyal to zither making.
As part of the guitar movement in Bavaria, Hermann Hauser I built a large number of different guitars, in particular the Viennese and Munich models in perfection and all designs. The Terz, Prim and the very rare Quintbass guitars by Hermann Hauser I are of the highest quality.Based on his exceptional craftsmanship, Hermann Hauser I developed technical, patented innovations in the area of top construction and neck-body joints. The Spanish virtuosos Miguel Llobet and Andres Segovia became aware of Hermann Hauser I's guitar-making skills at the beginning of the 20th century. The meeting of these masters of their trade and pioneers at the turn of the century can be described as a great moment in the history of guitar making.
